All they need now is to promise VR and self driving cars, and they’ll have a hype-tech bingo.

Just did it. literally the first result was for notepad ++
With pleasure.
The fact this is a bipartison bill should have everyone concerned, and figuring out who exactly is supporting this bill, and when is their relelection coming up.
That if these people really cared about social justice, they would have put their money where their mouths were and left long ago, instead of constantly making excuses and justifying their continued presence there.
I don’t care how they spin it, their activity on x undermines the marginalized people they claim to support. By continuing to post updates and posts there, and nowhere else, they keep their userbase on the site, which contributes to site traffic, which contributes to ad revenue, which contributes to Musk financially, which contributes to politicians, organizations, and causes that wish to peel back rights to workers, racial minorities, women, and queer people.
These are some of the same people that argued continuing to consume Harry Potter, or shopping at Hobby Lobby and Chic-Fil-A were harmful acts. As a queer person, I often agree with their messages, but I am getting so. fucking. tired of the hypocrisy in some of these people. And twitter/X has been the biggest integrity check for me.
And no, they can’t use the system argument that explains why they participate in capitalism despite being anti-capitalists. We all need to interact with capitalism in one way or another to survive. Most people don’t need fucking twitter. Especially when there are so many alternate platforms, and I’m not even talking about just microblogs either.
Fuck they don’t even throw a line to some of the smaller platforms. If they did that at least, people who don’t feel safe using the site, or don’t want to support Musk financially, wouldn’t have to view their content from halfway broken nitter. But nope, no account on any mastodon server, no attempt to establish themselves on bluesky, or hell any regular updates on the threads account they made but never use.
And many of us queer users, these stripping away of protections and features hurt us the most. Many left cause they didn’t feel safe anymore, and that is part of the reason many of us are on fediverse. We see better than anyone who these influencers and content creators actually care about. None of them followed us here. None of them even throw us a bone. We’re are forced to look through a frosted window, or do without, and at this point, I have found myself doing more of the latter.
Either stick to your fucking principles or admit you have an addiction you can’t easily kick. But please for the love of god stop trying to paint your remaining there as righteous or justified.
Musk: (literally shocks you with electricity for using the site)
Twitter leftists/liberals: My followers are here, fediverse is CoMpLiCaTeD, I need to stay here to reach people, there are no good alts, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, I’m staying in protest, I can leave whenever I want…
Maybe it’s because I have ad blockers on, and try to avoid AI like the plague, but my google searches are giving me actual results rather than what you’re describing.
Then again, I know google gives different results based on the user.
So basically they’re not leaving, they are silencing their political coverage. They’re not going anywhere, they’re caving to pressure.
I think the we should use fediverse with the expectations we had using the internet of old: Don’t post anything you want to keep secret, and anything you put online is potentially permanent.
I was always a little skeevy towards Facebook and other major social media sites when everyone was encouraged to use real names, post personal details, and share real photos of themselves and friends. Hell I still don’t get how people here share everything from faces to nudes and not expect their privacy to be compromised.
Agreed. Legal or not, I wouldn’t even want to encourage that kind of sexualization.
Yay, another week of higher than normal activity, until the fomo kicks back in and they leave yet again cause “everyone is on X/this is sooo complicated/I just wanna see the fallout/whatever excuse justifies their addiction”
I mean more so than expected. I guess years of reddit related brainrot conditions one to expect the worst constantly.
So basically Blahajzone became queer lemmyworld, when Ada’s intentions were probably more akin to queer Beehaw.
If this is the case, I do hope another public facing queerspace does take blahajzone’s place. It’s been kinda nice to see such a group just accepted as part of the larger community, and it would be a damn shame to see them become cloistered off.
I mean, welcome to being queer. My sister basically has to live like that or otherwise she gets arrested or possibly murdered. The terrorist more or less do dictate her life.
Like I understand the frustration of being defederated, especially over an accusation as heavy as this. But I can’t blame the bahaj team either for trying to be extra careful of making sure their community doesn’t become a target for anyone trying to demonize them. I believe you when you say the content is legal, but it’s not going to make a difference when someone like libsoftiktok screen cap adorableporn from the blajah instance and try to twist it into making them to be pedophiles. Also unless the OP makes it clear, it’s not like the pictures themselves can vouche for their age.
I would like to hear more from Blahaj users, because for the most part, this thread has been listening to NSFW complain about the defedding, and expressing outrage, speculation and judgement about the defedding, from users who are ultimately unaffected by this defedding. I want to know if this is something their users agree with or not, from the users themselves.
Also, Blahaj isn’t the only major instance to defed NSFW, but because of the nature of their sub, they seem to get the most attention over it.
I guess it beats not liking the conversation and it becoming locked.
Depending on the country, depictions of fauxbait can either be ay okay or borderline illegal. In places like Australia and Ireland, they have laws that are aimed at hentai, but because of the way they are worded, could also include fauxbait as well.
I’m sure discussion here will remain pleasant and mature with no problematic views, opinions or suggestions being thrown around at all.
The impression I got from Threads is it was all the ads and brands of twitter without the actual people.
So many machines, yet I’m working more hours than my ancestors.
