You can often (though not always) buy tickets directly from the venue in person or over the phone. You avoid Ticketmaster fees this way, though they may end up emailing you the ticket in Ticketmaster anyway.

My productivity is pretty low since I got promoted to one of our “lead developers.” So much of my time is spent looking at other people’s code, answering questions, mentoring, etc. Task switching becomes a huge issue, where even if I have time I’ve been pulled back and forth and it takes me like an hour to get back into whatever I was doing. It can take weeks for me to close tickets sometimes. And sometimes even when I have busy days, I come away feeling like I did nothing.

It’s definitely giving me Peter Principle vibes sometimes. And though my manager always tells me I’m doing good work, I feel like he’s too disconnected from my day-to-day, and that surely my Scrum Master and Product Owner are trying to get me replaced.

It’s…not a great state of mind, even if I know it’s bullshit. They wouldn’t be giving me raises if they didn’t think I was worth it. But…still. I’ve never stayed at the same job this long, and part of me keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Some guys I know who worked at a developer contracting house (that I briefly worked for as well) all lost their jobs over the course of a year or so, as the company started rapidly downsizing because “Copilot means we don’t need as many developers anymore, we can fill orders with a skeleton crew.”

I’m excited to see that company fail for their bullshit.

Regenerative braking happens through the brake pedal on my Ford PHEV. I prefer it, because it drives the same way every other car does but still allows you to stop with 100% regenerative braking as long as you don’t press too hard on the pedal.

My Ford PHEV does regenerative braking through the brake pedal. The brake pads only engage if you press hard enough that the braking demand is higher than the slowing caused by regenerative braking. It will show you how well you’re doing with a gauge to show how much of your regen-braking force you’re using, and if it never engages the brake pads until you’re already stopped (for the brake hold function) it tells you 100% of the braking energy went into the battery. Pretty cool.

I remember with the Xbox 360 the only issue was if you switched from vertical to horizontal or vice versa while the disc was being read.

I don’t own a Mac Mini, and never will. I’m not trying to defend Apple.

But I’ll use my work laptop as an example. I have external monitors, so I never open the damn thing except on the rare occasions I need to use the power button. This happens infrequently enough that it gives me a pretty good notion of how often people need the actual power button on a modern computer.

If the button can be reached without turning over the device or even picking it up, as it sure appears, what’s the problem? Other than that it’s an Apple device and people love to hate on Apple devices.

How often do you need to actually turn it on? Won’t it sleep? Pretty much should only need to turn it on after moving the thing. You can restart from with in the OS if you need to.

In name, sure. But not really. It was Amazon trying to sell an Android tablet on the Kindle brand. It could read Kindle books using the same Kindle app as any Android device, but it was far more than an eReader and didn’t feature the eInk screen that makes eReaders worth reading on.

Biggest draw to Kindle for me is whispersync. Having my progress synchronized between Audible and Kindle is fantastic.

Amazon Fire wasn’t an e-Ink screen, it was LCD.
