That was the real reason for the API changes last year, apps just got caught in the crossfire.
Anything can, the difference is reddit holds the exclusive rights to user comments on their site, and they’ve chosen to sell it.
Considering some of the very wrong and upvoted domain specific knowledge I’ve seen on Reddit over the years I’m not sure the training data is going to be useful for much beyond what every other model can do.

That would matter more if it wasn’t trivial to make new accounts and very cheap to buy established ones.
More like people know when it’s just being used as a buzzword and are smart to avoid when that’s (often) the case
