Guess there will be a market in importing whole ones, and cutting them up there.

Me too. It also handled some situations, like divergent lines in the same branch or obsolete changes, much better.
In his case.

He wants to speak freely, but he doesn’t want to afford anyone else the same right.
It’s not an uncommon stance, but it’s a hypocritical one.
I’m in the industry but don’t know much about broadcom. What makes you say that?
Where’s the training data coming from?
Sure, but the Zen isn’t saying there must be only one. Just that to get stuff done the first trial shouldn’t be evaluate 20 different ways. There should be an obvious choice, with alternatives for the corner cases.
Packaging is so fundamental to a project that you almost need to choose what you’re doing before a single line of code is written.
BLM and ACAB are very American centric movements/sentiments. Hence why I took your comments to be American focused.
Whilst I’ve heard the phrase “thin blue line” before, it’s never been something associated with racist overtones or subjugative ones in my experience. More that the police is a small community protecting the larger population.
As such, someone using it context of not allowing the proliferation something is reasonable, if possibly histrionic in this case.
People born in the 50s have long retired. The grey beards are not baby-boomers. They are people born in the late 60s and 70s. They are people who grew up as computing technology matured. They started coding low level and had careers building the infrastructure of computing which is what a lot of FOSS is.
However the question is not why these people have aged? It’s why hasn’t there been a steady stream of people taking their place from younger generations?
I believe it’s because the generations after them have careers working at higher levels of abstraction. Often going lower level is seen as black magic that is unknown to them.
You can do exactly as you say, and you’re right - it makes code easier to reason about. However it all come down to efficiency. Copying a large data structure to modify one element in it is slow. So we deal with the ick of mutable data to preserve performance.
You’re talking about the US police. A lot of the world have police forces that serve the people.
So much simpler than gitlab. An executable and a single config file. That’s all there is if you use sqlite as the database.
Gitlab was a farmyard of different things to worry about.
There’s a market waiting for car without all this crap. Late 2000s level of electronics and aids please. That goes for EVs too.
It’s not me you disagree with. It’s PEP 20 - The Zen of Python
There should be one-- and preferably only one --obvious way to do it.
I think you’re under thinking this.
The primary focus of Trump since coming to office has been securing natural resources. Greenland, Canada, Ukraine all have rich mineral deposits. Even the Panama shit is about controlling a geographic “resource”…the canal.
This rename is about making it sound like it belongs to the US. What’s there a lot of here? Oil. And it sits under international waters.
Vance stakes claim to US leadership…
I guess it can’t be any worse. He should go for it.
