Update! I managed to follow instructions and install a proprietary HP Linux driver from their website. I have an old Laserjet 1020 I bought new many years ago. It still works perfectly on windows, but I haven’t been able to make it print with any Linux distro, so it sits in the corner with nothing to do :(
