I don’t think it’s worth it to argue with a person of such worldview. Maybe someone with more patience than me will reply.

For me, the most essentials are definitely:

• PhotoPrism
• Jellyfin
• Navidrome
• Wiki.js

It’s simply the truth. Go around and ask 20 people if they’ve read a single piece of poetry in the last year, and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

It’s not even being edgy. Most people don’t get high concept art in general, and there’s nothing wrong about it. I certainly don’t understand classical dance, or abstract paintings. You need some degree of competence in any art form to truly appreciate it. To think otherwise is incredibly arrogant.

The script you provided works as expected for me. I’m on Arch, so the binary is called perl-rename, but no other modification is needed.

I took a look at it. From what I understand, some of the lines in your setup are redundant. The final product seems to do basically the same job as mine. In any case, if it works, it works.

Hey, great post. I have one request. Can you maybe add some description for what the iptables entries do? I have a similar setup with a lot less iptables rules that works well for me. But I’m not an expert in networking, and am now worried that I might be missing something that can leak my home IP.

I’d say that mpv also has a place near VLC when it comes to playing everything.

I mostly use mpv to play local music nowadays. (Most of the music I play is streamed using a Navidrome server with Feishin as the frontend.) Back when I did use a proper audio player on Linux, Harmonoid was my go-to.

Navidrome does that. I think you just used a bad frontend. Try Tempo if you’re using Android. Or Feishin on desktop.

I’ve been very happy with Navidrome. I have it accessible on a subdomain, so I can just use it from wherever I want. Feishin is a great frontend for Linux desktop, and Tempo is a great frontend for Android.

My friend uses Jellyfin instead of Navidrome, and he’s also happy with it. Both the frontends that I mentioned work with Jellyfin as well.

Right in front of me is a guy editing a >10 page LaTeX file in Overleaf on a 13 inch laptop. The sidebar takes like 1/3rd of the screen. The editor in around 3 inches in width, and he needs to zoom into the PDF preview to read it.

My point in, some people simply don’t care about anything.

I’ve heard many people complain about DuckDNS. Personally use desec.io for DDNS and it’s been solid.

I prefer Office 365 online.
