Another step in the slow death of the open WWW… Are we all gonna retreat to smaller, more controlled environments?

Just like @BearOfaTime@lemm.ee suggested, Syncthing-fork works fine for now, I’ve been using it on my phone to sync logseq notes and I haven’t had any issues so far

I use the Kodi app on my smart tv to watch movies and shows shared from my server via SMB, never had any problems, aside from green tint on some HDR encodings. My TV’s wired tho.

I think I can see 3 “new” laptops in my future!

I went Inventor -> SOLIDWORKS -> Fusion -> SOLIDWORKS with maybe 3% of the issues I’ve had with FreeCAD.

You can’t easily create models based on other models, or place things around as easily, it’s always a mess of shape binders and fixed coordinates, it really limits the capabilities of the software.

I’m always checking forums, discords, YouTube for the simplest things… I’m trying and I keep trying, but it’s very obtuse to just dismiss the issues as “people don’t want to learn”, 'cause I’m putting more time into FreeCAD than any other CAD, and getting shit results.

When I started using SOLIDWORKS I had 0 training, still managed to make it work. FreeCAD is still frustrating after a lot of effort. But I keep trying, because it’s the only real open source option

It’s still… Difficult if you’re used to commercial CAD suites, but it’s leagues better than it used to be

I use NUT with an Eaton Ellipse but it periodically stops working and I’m forced to restart the container

I used to have a Nextcloud instance on a shared webhost… It ran like shit but you can’t beat the storage space… VPS storage is expensive.

Now I use syncthing on my home server

Afaik the fingerprint is stored on dedicated hardware on your device, it never leaves your phone and cannot be “read”
